Sunglint on the Alabama Stream

.Within this June 26, 2023, photograph taken from the International Spaceport station, sunlight shines off the hassle-free waters of the Alabama River in a sensation called sunglint. When capturing on film Earth, astronauts often take advantage of sunglint's propensity to improve the contrast between water surface areas and also neighboring property surface areas. In the 1960s, the Alabama River was actually slowed, making Dannelly Reservoir (the huge shining region at facility left). Development of the dam also increased water table upriver. This caused flooding at many points along the river. These disaster area are actually normal of flood plains-- the poor, level places instantly close to much larger waterways. Within this graphic, flooded zones look like uneven, brilliant shapes stretching far from the waterway, like at Gee's Bend (facility base).Text Credit History: Justin Wilkinson.Photo Credit Rating: NASA/Woody Hoburg.
